As a Children's Social Worker at Luton, you'll join a supportive learning culture, be able to influence change, challenge others and share your expertise. Luton Council is on a journey of improvement, so when you join our close-knit team, you'll become part of our journey too. We care about giving our children a better future, so we've pledged that none of our children will live in poverty by 2040. It means that you'll be part of something more than the nine to five, you'll be part of something inspirational.
Day-to-day, you'll visit children and families in their homes, and complete assessments of their risks and needs. You'll coordinate referrals, devise care plans and produce clear reports.
With your understanding of child development and family dynamics, you'll make professional judgements, negotiate resources and plan interventions. This may see you making informed judgements and high-risk decisions in challenging situations. No matter the case or task, you'll always promote anti discriminatory practice and empower others.
You'll have a great understanding of the Children Act 1989 and other key legislation. Importantly, you'll also know how to communicate calmly and effectively with a range of situations confidently. To join, you'll need a Dip SW, CQSW, or recognised equivalent qualification, along with substantial experience in health or social care.
