Starting Salary: £45,441 PLUS £6,905 market enhancement, with the opportunity to progress to £50,512 PLUS £6,629 market enhancement per annum AND £1,000 one off welcome payment (terms apply)
Hours: 37 per week
Contract: Permanent

As part of our Corporate Parenting commitment, we are expanding our Care Leaver workforce and have several exciting opportunities for newly created Consultant Social Worker roles within our Care Leaver Teams. These roles will be central to supporting the needs of Care Leavers aged 18-25 years, achieving improved outcomes, as well as supporting management oversight within the teams.

About the role

You will be working alongside your team manager in a team consisting of Leaving Care Personal Advisors, supporting Care Leavers who are transitioning to adulthood aged 18-25 years.

You will be responsible for the safeguarding of Care Leavers, working in partnership with other services, undertaking pathway plans, supervising staff, working in a trauma informed way, supporting independent living skills and will encourage participation & feedback, to name just a few of the things you will do!

You will be joining a highly supportive service area working with Care Leavers, where corporate parenting is at the centre of what we do. You will have the opportunity to specialise in this service area and will receive relevant training for the role.

Every day is different in this role and the work is fast paced but rewarding!

About you

Essential
• Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England
• Be an experienced Social Worker
• Knowledge of legislation, guidance, policy, and procedures
• Ability to support & line manage staff to complete robust assessments and to manage & assess risk
• Ability to work in a relationship-based way
• Understanding of equality and diversity in Social Work
• Ability to input and maintain accurate computerised information and records
• Ability to work on own initiative managing and prioritising own workload under pressure

You must also have a driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes, as travel is required as part of this role.

Desirable
• Knowledge/experience of working with Care Leavers
• Knowledge of legislation, guidance, policy, and procedure specific to Care Leavers
• Knowledge/experience of working with children and young people subject to or at risk of exploitation including modern day slavery and trafficking
• Knowledge/experience of working with Care Leavers
• Line Management experience (can include supervising students or mentoring)

You will be central in supporting Care Leavers with their lives and transitioning into adulthood. In return, you will work within a highly supportive service area, with access to excellent supervision and training opportunities.
